NFL kickers miss eight extra points in early Sunday games
Kickers around the league struggled in Sunday’s games, combining to miss eight extra points in the eight games of the 1 p.m. ET slate. Five players combined to miss six extra points in the first half of the 1 p.m. ET games alone.
Bengals kicker Mike Nugent, who had hit 19 of his 20 extra point attempts entering Sunday, clanged two kicks off the right upright against the Bills.
In windy conditions in New Jersey, Connor Barth of the Bears missed an extra point and Robbie Gould of the Giants missed two. The wind may not have been entirely to blame, though, since Barth later made a 40-yard field goal and Gould hit from 46.
Weather certainly didn’t play a factor indoors in Detroit, where Lions kicker Matt Prater and Jason Myers of Jaguars each failed to split the uprights on extra points.
Kai Forbath, picked up by the Vikings after Blair Walsh missed four extra points, made his first extra point attempt but had the second one blocked.
Only 10 of the 35 players to kick an extra point this season have made every one of their attempts.
