NFL Week 8 injury roundup: Chiefs lose Alex Smith, Spencer Ware

The Chiefs lost two key offensive players due to injury in Sunday’s game against the Colts. 

Alex Smith was concussed in the third quarter when his head collided with the turf. He left the game in the first quarter for a concussion test but passed it and returned to the game. Starting running back Spencer Ware also sustained a concussion. 

NFL sack leader Lorenzo Alexander left the Bills’ game against the Patriots with a hamstring injury and did not return.

Alex Smith, Chiefs — Concussion, out

Nick Foles replaced Smith after he was injured.

Spencer Ware, Chiefs — Concussion, out

Charcandrick West saw an increased workload after Ware was injured. 

Lorenzo Alexander, Bills — Hamstring, out

This is Alexander’s first season with the Bills. He leads the league with nine sacks. 

T.Y. Hilton, Colts — Hamstring, returned

Hilton was sidelined briefly by a hamstring injury but returned to the game.
