Only a little more than a week after he became an official spokesperson for Head & Shoulders, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. further enhanced his ever-expanding endorsement portfolio by joining teammate Eli Manning in a new ad for Dunkin Donuts.

The ads, which will serve the New York/New Jersey region, feature the Giants pass-and-catch tandem extolling how commitment, as is the case in football, is required to make good coffee. Apparently.

Beckham, entering only his second season, rapidly is becoming one of the most sought-after NFL players when it comes to endorsement opportunities. And while he has had some issues with his newfound fame — as was arguably the case when he took some gentle ribbing from his teammates over a pesky hamstring issue far too personally (although he did back off a bit later) — it’s abundantly clear that Beckham has limitless potential and supreme talent and stands to develop into one of the best receivers in the game, if he’s not considered one of them already.

But let’s make one thing clear: While it’s great that Beckham and Manning are big-time endorsers of Dunkin Donuts, the two superstars cannot hold a candle to the greatness that is/was Michael Vale’s star turn as “Fred the Baker” in the chain’s “Time to make the donuts” advertising campaign in the 1980s. And that’s a certifiable, inarguable fact.
