Packers' rookie WR Montgomery earning Aaron Rodgers' trust
When the Green Bay Packers lost Pro Bowl wide receiver Jordy Nelson for the season, an opportunity arose for the team's young pass-catchers to step up in Nelson's absence.
So far, it looks like third round rookie Ty Montgomery has made the most of that opportunity. After catching four passes in a win over the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday night, Montgomery has earned some meaningful praise from none other than quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"Ty came in and made some plays, so I was really happy for him," Aaron Rodgers said, per ESPN's Rob Demovsky. "I told him, 'That's how you earn the trust of the quarterback, when you go out there in situations like that and take care of that football and make some good reaction plays."
Now, with Davante Adams (ankle) hurting, the Packers are counting on Montgomery to take his play to the next level. The rookie receiver could have his breakout performance on Monday night, when the Kansas City Chiefs visit Lambeau Field.
