Patrick Peterson will shadow Stefon Diggs on Sunday
Highlighting the biggest matchup of Sunday’s game between the Arizona Cardinals and the Minnesota Vikings : Patrick Peterson vs Stefon Diggs.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has said that Patrick Peterson will be following Stefon Diggs around the field on Sunday. This could mean trouble in week 11 when the Cardinals visit U.S. Bank Stadium to face off with the Minnesota Vikings.
Diggs has easily been the Vikings best receiving threat this season. With the lack of a run game, you can only expect him to continue to thrive. Coach Arians has obviously seen his success, and sees him as a threat for the Cardinals’ secondary. Due to this, Arians will use Patrick Peterson, his 5x Pro Bowl cornerback, to try to stop him.
Peterson has gone up against Mike Evans, Brandon Marshall and Kelvin Benjamin so far this season and is continuing his successful career, but Diggs may bring a different challenge to the table. Evans, Marshall and Benjamin all find success lining up as the outside receiver and running sideline routes.

To the contrary, Stefon Diggs finds most of his success on in routes, slants and curl routes.
Patrick Peterson has not been known to cover the slot receiver very often – only 6.18 percent of his snaps, according to Rotoworld. Stefon Diggs lines up in the slot very often.
Arians likely sees this as a “put your best cornerback on their best receiver” situation, but it seems as if Diggs has the advantage here. He will play in the slot, a position in which he is very comfortable, while Peterson lines up across from him in a position unfamiliar to him.
Expect Sam Bradford to target Stefon Diggs a lot this week, especially on short routes, as he has been doing all season. If Bradford has time in the pocket and can be accurate in his short pass attempts, expect Peterson to jump routes and Diggs to have a big day.
