Patriots bolster O-line, D-line on last day of draft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) The New England Patriots bolstered their offensive and defensive lines on the third day of the NFL Draft Saturday, picking linemen with the first three of their eight total picks.

The Pats selected pass-rushing defensive end Trey Flowers from Arkansas, mammoth guard Tre Jackson from Florida State, who protected No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston, and guard Shaquille Mason of Georgia Tech in the fourth round.

They added long snapper Joe Cardona of Navy in the fifth round as a possible replacement for Danny Aiken, and picked up linebacker Matthew Wells of Mississippi State and tight end A.J. Derby of Arkansas in the sixth round.

Their final selections Saturday in the seventh round were cornerback Darryl Roberts of Marshall and linebacker Xzavier Dickson of Alabama.
