Philadelphia Eagles will reportedly start Carson Wentz if healthy
Carson Wentz could start for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2017 first round pick and a 2018 conditional fourth round pick, which could become a second or third round pick depending on Bradford’s success in Minnesota.
God bless you, Howie Roseman.
With Bradford now in Minnesota, who will be the Eagles’ starting quarterback Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns? Before the trade occurred, Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz were second and third on the depth chart, respectively. However, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan, the Eagles hope to start Wentz over Daniel if he is fully recovered from the rib injury he suffered in Week 1 of the preseason.
#Eagles are planning on starting Carson Wentz against the visiting #Browns if he's recovered enough from his rib injury, sources said.

Choosing to start Wentz over Daniel makes sense, especially considering Daniel’s lackluster performance this preseason. But is Wentz ready to take on a starting role? This entire offseason, the Eagles have insisted that this would be a redshirt year for Wentz. Was this all a legitimate plan or has moving Bradford pressured them into throwing Wentz into the fire?
Whether this was calculated or not, it’s hard not to go with Wentz, who did show some promise in the one game he played in this preseason. He stood tall in the pocket, showed a strong arm and clearly wasn’t afraid to take a hit if he had to (which led to his rib injury).
Starting Wentz could be risky, but if it gives the Eagles a better chance to win, there’s no reason not to make it happen.
