Quinton Spain earns another start at guard for Titans

A solid starting debut at left guard for Tennessee Titans rookie Quinton Spain appears to have earned him another week in the lineup.

Tennessee interim head coach Mike Mularkey said Monday he was "pretty pleased" with Spain, who made his first NFL start in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the Oakland.

Per the team's official website, Mularkey indicated Spain would remain a starter for this week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Spain joined the Titans as an undrafted rookie free agent in May out of West Virginia.

Elsewhere on the offensive line, right tackle Jeremiah Poutasi, the team's 2015 third-round pick who started seven games this season, was inactive for the first time all year against the Raiders. Mularkey said the team elected to keep Jamon Meredith active because of his versatility having played multiple spots on the line.

“It is important to keep a line together and work together, and that one was fine (Sunday),’’ Mularkey said. “We are going to continue with it. … We are not down on Jeremiah. We are just trying another rotation to see if we can shore up a line that can get our running game going, No.1, and keep this quarterback upright for the remaining five games.”
