Raiders' Carr: 'We've left some wins out there' this season

Derek Carr has much higher hopes for this Raiders team than to simply remain competitive.

That's why this season's 2-3 start might sting even more than last year's winless streak.

“It’s really hard because we feel like we left some on the field,” Carr told CSN Bay Area's Scott Bair. “We feel like we’ve left wins out there and, as we’re learning, this league is so close, you’re so close in all these games that you can’t let missed opportunities happen."

Carr sat through last season's rebuilding year and fielded questions after countless blowout losses. This year is different; his team just took the reigning AFC West Champs all four quarters and has remained competitive in mostly every game.

Yet the end result is the same in the standings. And unlike last year, when general manager Reggie McKenize was in full evaluation mode, moral victories and close calls are demoralizing.

“I don’t look at it from a development standpoint,” Carr said. “I’m (just disappointed) because I want to win and I know we can win.”
