Oakland is reprising its role as an infamous league antagonist.

The team won’t commemorate the NFL's 50th Super Bowl season with special midfield gold marks, according to SportsBusiness Daily.

All 30 other stadiums feature a gold-colored 50-yard line, plus a special gold league logo. The Raiders' choice is curious -- but it has nothing to do with their baseball-playing co-tenants.

“It has nothing to do with baseball,” AEG Facilities VP and O.Co Coliseum G.M. Chris Wright told Muret. “The last six home baseball games are through this weekend, and there will be no gold marks for the rest of the Raiders’ regular season.”

It could be a not-so-silent commentary on the Raiders' own stadium situation. Or, the team could forgo league commemoration in a season where their Bay Area neighbors -- the San Francisco 49ers -- are hosting a Super Bowl.

Either way, this type of league defiance hasn't been seen in Oakland since late owner Al Davis' reign.
