Raiders want to get Michael Crabtree the ball more

Michael Crabtree has proven that last season's low output was a coincidence, not a fluke.

Now, he'll get to prove what he's capable of with a few more passes coming his way.

"He's been terrific," offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave told the team's website. "We just want to keep building his role in the offense."

The first-year Raider has 27 catches for 318 yards and a touchdown through five weeks. That obviously outpaces his 68-catch, 698-yard season in San Francisco last year.

The production is there; so is the know-how. Crabtree was a dominant No. 1 receiver just a few short seasons ago; he's already been a guy who keeps defenses humble.

“‘Crab’ is going to be ‘Crab.’" quarterback Derek Carr said. "Just like he did, big third-down conversions, running seam routes, big catches in crucial times. He’s going to be that guy for us.”
