Rams DT Aaron Donald explains what led to his ejection against the 49ers

To say the Los Angeles Rams’ 28-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was a complete and utter disaster would be an understatement. Nothing went right for the Rams as they totaled 185 yards of offense and never came close to being a minor threat to Chip Kelly’s squad.

Frustration was understandably seen on the faces of every single Rams player, but Aaron Donald’s temper boiled over in the fourth quarter. The All-Pro defensive tackle got the boot for making contact with an official after getting into a shoving match with 49ers receiver Quinton Patton. Donald put his hands on Patton’s neck and knocked his helmet off before slamming his own helmet to the turf.

Donald explained his outburst after the game.

“I let the emotions get the best of me,” Donald said, via the Los Angeles Daily News. “I’m going to have to pay for my actions. But any time you lose like that you’re going to be embarrassed. On that play I just saw something happened and I thought I would stand up for my guys, and it was a dumb decision to do it the way I did it.”

In addition to being ejected, Donald is subject to at least a $30,000 fine just for making contact with the official. He won’t be suspended or disciplined any further, but the embarrassment of that game was enough of a punishment.
