Rams' Fisher: No plans to tweak Redskins over 2012 draft-day deal

St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher is planning on a straight-up approach for Sunday's matchup against the Washington Redskins - at least for the pregame coin flip.

Appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, Fisher will said he will follow standard operating procedure and send out his elected team captains for the coin flip. That wasn't the case a year ago, when Fisher appeared to tweak the Redskins during pregame ceremonies with a not-so-subtle reminder of how the 2012 blockbuster draft-day trade between the teams worked out.

The Redskins sent a small ransom to the Rams to acquire the No. 2 overall pick, used to acquire Robert Griffin III. As a result of the deal, St. Louis had six active players on its roster last season and Fisher trotted them out as team captains for the Dec. 7 meeting with Washington.

Even though the Rams demolished the Redskins 24-0, Fisher said he will not give in to superstition and follow the same game plan Sunday.

“That was a one-time thing,” Fisher told Eisen. “I’m gonna let our elected captains represent us on the middle of the field this week. That’s how that’s going to play itself out.”
