The New England Patriots made Stephen Gostkowski the NFL's highest-paid kicker Wednesday, and it was music to the ears of Baltimore's Justin Tucker.

Tucker greeted out congratulations when news of Gostkowski's rich new contract emerged, but you'd have to believe he was smiling ear-to-ear when he heard the dollar amounts -- $17.2 million over four years with a $6 million signing bonus.

The Ravens kicker is seeking a long-term extension from the club. He's set to earn $2.36 million on a restricted one-year tender, and if a deal isn't struck by next year, the team may apply the franchise tag to keep him.

Tucker has already become the most accurate kicker in NFL history in his first three years in the league, despite missing five field goals last season -- all from 50-plus yards. Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun believes Tucker has a case to overtake Gostkowski as the highest-paid kicker.

“He has been a huge weapon and a tremendous bargain, but he won’t come cheap for much longer," wrote Zrebiec. "The Ravens don’t want to lose him and, at the very least, likely would place the franchise tag on the kicker next offseason before allowing him to become a true unrestricted free agent."
