Ravens' Smith calls undrafted receiver Carter a 'young Randall Cobb'

Steve Smith knows a thing or two about the receiving game. So when he draws a comparison between Randall Cobb and a Ravens rookie, it's worth listening to.

Ozzie Newsome drafted two wideouts last month, but the youngster Smith is referring to arrived in Baltimore as a free agent. At 5-foot-8 and 185 pounds, DeAndre Carter didn't have the prototypical size for a receiver, something Smith can relate to.

"I like [that] he’s hungry," Smith told the team's official site during the first week of OTAs last Thursday. "I just love his attitude. I see a young Randall Cobb in him."

Notice that Smith didn't compare Carter to himself. Now that would be some serious praise. But Carter still has a ways to go before he is compared to fourth-year Randall Cobb. Cobb caught 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns last season for Green Bay.

Carter caught 99 balls for 1,321 yards and 17 touchdowns last season at Sacramento State.
