Redskins moving camp to Richmond
The Washington Redskins say they will hold preseason training camp in Richmond beginning next summer.
Redskins general manager Bruce Allen and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's office made the announcement Wednesday.
No site in Richmond for the two-a-day practices has been selected.
The Redskins will keep their corporate headquarters in Loudoun County in northern Virginia and will expand Redskins Park, where their full-time training facility is located. Preseason training will remain there this year.
Maryland had been trying to entice the Redskins to relocate there. The Redskins' home field is located in Maryland in the District of Columbia suburbs.
McDonnell approved a $4 million performance-based grant to help keep the team's main facilities in Virginia.
