Redskins' offensive line gets hit with another injury
By Brett Conway
The Washington Redskins lost another player to season ending IR, that could severely effect the run game of the Redskins. Left guard Shawn Lauvao was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury suffered in Thursdays night loss to the New York Giants.
This comes as a huge blow to the run first state of mind of the Redskins offense. The first three games of the season the Redskins offense has ran 40 times left with Trent Williams and Shawn Lauvao, compared to only 21 rushes to the right side of the line.
The Redskins averaged 5.19 yards per carry to the left side, which is 10th best in the NFL. It is still unclear who will take Lauvao’s spot at left guard, his back up Josh LeRibeus also suffered a calf injury in Thursdays night game.
We’ll just have to wait and see who takes over at the left guard spot, the Redskins also have second year player Spencer Long and rookie Arie Kouandjio who could step up and fill in at the left guard position.
