Redskins WR Ryan Grant impressive in surprise start over Andre Roberts

Published Oct. 4, 2015 9:51 p.m. ET

After struggling with drops in Week 3 and throughout the course of the 2014 season, the Washington Redskins made the decision to bench wide receiver Andre Roberts and start Ryan Grant in their Week 4 23-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Grant responded with a strong performance, hauling in 5-of-7 targets for 45 yards receiving.

The Redskins used Grant and Pierre Garcon in two wide receiver sets, and they used Jamison Crowder in three wide receiver formations. Grant finished with the third-most targets on the team behind Crowder (12) and Garcon (8).

Roberts was a healthy inactive after dropping a key pass in the Redskins' Week 3 loss to the New York Giants. Roberts does not play on special teams -- when he is not their return man -- so there is reason to believe he will remain a healthy inactive.
