Report: Alshon Jeffery expected to return in Week 4

The Chicago Bears showed on Sunday that they are in serious need of help on offense, and star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is expected to provide some in Week 4.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jeffery will play against the Oakland Raiders next weekend if he does not suffer any setbacks in practice this week. The 25-year-old had battled an injured calf throughout the preseason and has also been resting a hamstring injury.

The Bears struggled about as much as expected and then some against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. They failed to score a single point and compiled just 146 yards of total offense. There was actually a time early in the game when Chicago’s defense did not play all that poorly, but the offense simply couldn’t move the ball.

While Jeffery’s return should help, the Bears also need to get Jay Cutler back. Jimmy Clausen isn’t exactly among the most talented backup quarterbacks in the league.

The 0-3 Bears are turning into a complete mess, and the only way they stand a shot of salvaging anything is if they get healthy in a hurry.
