Woodhead was carted off the field in the first quarter of San Diego’s Sunday victory against Jacksonville. He was off to a fast start this season, with 19 carries for 116 yards and six catches for 35 yards in his first five quarters of football. He wasn’t a big part of the Chargers’ running game last season, but he led the team with 80 catches for 755 yards.
San Diego lost No. 1 receiver Keenan Allen to an ACL tear in Week 1, so quarterback Philip Rivers is now without his two top targets. The Chargers beat the Jaguars 38-14 without either player Sunday and will visit the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.
