Report: Dannell Ellerbe restructures contract to stay with Saints
After missing 10 games with injuries in 2015, New Orleans Saints linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has reportedly restructured his contract.
Via Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com:
Ellerbe was slated to make $4.1 million in base salary and count $5.9 million against the cap in 2016. Toe and hip injuries limited him to 39 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a defended pass in six games played this past season.
Ellerbe, 30, won Super Bowl XLVII with the Baltimore Ravens, setting the stage for him to sign a five-year, $35 million with the Miami Dolphins the following offseason. He was traded to the New Orleans Saints after spending 15 games of the 2014 season on injured reserve.
Upon landing with the Saints, Ellerbe signed a three-year contract worth $15.2 million. There's no word on the details of his restructured deal, but it should be more reflective of his limited impact and availability as of late.
