Report: Eagles tackle Lane Johnson suspended pending appeal
The NFL suspended Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson pending an appeal for violation of the league's performance enhancing drug policy, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.
According to the report, Johnson will play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Eagles have a bye the next week, with Johnson's appeal hearing is scheduled for Oct. 4.
Johnson is reportedly facing a 10-game ban after saying he took an approved amino acid, but still came up testing positive for a banned drug. Johnson will be suspended if an arbitrator upholds the suspension. He would not be eligible to play against on Dec. 12.
He also served a four-game ban in 2014 for a PED violation.
Before Monday night's 29-14 victory over the Chicago Bears, Johnson learned that the B sample confirmed the A sample.
Johnson has been waiting for a resolution in the case and likened it to waiting for "an execution date."
“It’s mentally frustrating. It’s been living hell for the past month," Johnson said to USA Today last month.
Johnson, 26, has started all 46 games he has appeared in since the Eagles selected him with the fourth overall selection in the 2013 NFL draft.
