Report: Jets G Willie Colon's knee injury isn't season-ending

Published Sep. 28, 2015 9:55 a.m. ET

New York Jets veteran guard Willie Colon left Sunday's game with a knee injury. He was taken off the field in a cart, which led some to believe it was a very serious injury.

While Colon's injury is by no means minor, it isn't expected to be season-ending, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

With the Jets already going through struggles on offense, Colon's loss would be a big blow. He brings a veteran presence and experience to the offensive line, which is extremely beneficial in sustaining success up front.

Colon battled his way into the starting lineup in training camp after he entered the offseason without a guaranteed spot. When Colon went down with the knee injury, Brian Winters took over and looked shaky in limited action.

The Jets are hoping Colon's injury isn't long-term, but there's no timetable for his return as of now.
