Report: Kam Chancellor holdout affecting potential Fred Jackson deal

Published Sep. 3, 2015 12:26 p.m. ET

After Fred Jackson's release from the Buffalo Bills, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Jackson is expected to sign with the Seahawks.

However, there may be one impediment to that potential deal: Kam Chancellor's holdout.

"They are in a holding pattern at this time," Bleacher Report's Jason Cole said

Marshawn Lynch and Jackson were former teammates in Buffalo, and the latter would give the Seahawks a reliable pass-catcher out of the backfield and a steady backup.

Robert Turbin is currently dealing with an ankle sprain and Christine Michael has yet to show consistency since being drafted in 2013.

Meanwhile, there has been no update on the Chancellor holdout, although it's less than two weeks until the regular season starts for the Seahawks on Sept. 13 at St. Louis.

“Until they deal with (Chancellor), signing Jackson may be difficult,” Cole said, via Bleacher Report. “The team may ultimately say that they will wait until after Week 1, when his salary would not be guaranteed and would allow them to find out whether another team would be interested in him in the interim. If another team expresses interest, perhaps the Seahawks would move faster.”

It appears the Seahawks may have to wait it out longer for Chancellor, as well as Jackson.
