Report: Knee injury will sideline Knowshon Moreno in 2015
By David Kenyon
Running back Knowshon Moreno is one of the top free agents still available at the running back position, but a report on Wednesday provided some clarity as to why he hasn’t been signed.
According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Moreno won’t be available in 2015 due to his knee.
"@TIEMEEco_75: would it be smart now to bring back Moreno?"» Moreno won't be playing football in '15. His knee isn't right
Moreno sustained a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in October 2014, so he likely wouldn’t have been at full strength until September at the earliest anyway. Perhaps Moreno encountered a setback in his recovery, but it’s possible the soon-to-be 28-year-old just isn’t healing at an expedient rate.
Adrian Peterson’s herculean nine-month recovery ruined ACL rehab timelines for many professional athletes, especially running backs. It’s not fair to expect everyone to rebound from a major knee problem so quickly.
Moreno also tore his right ACL in 2011, so there could be lingering issues from the previous injury.
