The Minnesota Vikings are preparing for running back Adrian Peterson to miss this Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers as Peterson considers treatment options for the torn meniscus in his right knee, reports ESPN.com's Ed Werder.

Peterson was injured in the third quarter of team's 17–14 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night and hasn't been officially ruled out for Sunday's game.

According to the report, Peterson is being provided with multiple options on how to go about treating the knee injury.

Peterson has only rushed for only 50 total yards in his first two games, after leading the league with 1,485 running yards last season. He had 19 yards on 12 carries against the Packers before leaving the game with the injury.

Minnesota is dead last in the NFL in rushing offense and also average a league-low 1.9 yards per rushing attempt.
