Rex Ryan ticked off after Bills QB Tyrod Taylor flipped into end zone

Training camp is an important part of every team’s preparation for the upcoming season. Like the preseason, though, it’s also a time for coaches, fans and executives to hold their collective breath that an important player doesn’t suffer a significant injury.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor apparently isn’t one to play it safe in practice. The super-athletic dual-threat quarterback dazzles with his legs and scrambling ability, and there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s just no place for flips on the practice field.

On Monday, Taylor apparently made a spectacular play that drew the ire of Rex Ryan and his teammates. While running a quarterback draw inside the 10-yard line, Taylor hurdled two defenders and flipped into the end zone. It showed of his athleticism, sure. But it also put him in harm’s way.

"Are you kidding me?" Ryan told reporters. "I literally held my breath when Tyrod dove through the air. You’re saying, ‘Please don't do that.’ ... He's got to take care of himself.”

According to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW, Taylor landed awkwardly but got up and walked it off perfectly fine. His teammates, though, weren’t happy.

It’s understandable for those in Buffalo to be unhappy about Taylor putting his body at risk – especially after the Bills have already lost several key players in Shaq Lawson and Reggie Ragland to injury. And on Monday, left tackle Cordy Glenn was spotted in a walking boot.

The last thing Buffalo needs is for Taylor to go down.
