RG3 says he'll support new teammate Josh Gordon whether suspension is lifted or not

Former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III finally found a landing spot on Thursday, when he signed a two-year, $15 million deal with the Cleveland Browns.

While the surroundings will be new for Griffin and he'll be learning yet another NFL offense, he could have some help in the form of former Baylor teammate Josh Gordon.

That is, if Gordon's suspension is lifted.

The wide receiver missed all of 2015 while serving a year-long suspension for his violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy. Gordon is currently up for reinstatement, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he hopes to address the matter in the next week or so.

While Griffin acknowledged that he's eager to play with Gordon, he understands the wide receiver's current situation and will support him regardless of the result of his hearing.

"Josh is family. We went to Baylor together. I love the guy." Griffin told reporters. "I don't know what's going to happen with him in the league or with the team, but he always knows that he has a brother in me. If the opportunity comes that he can get reinstated and play for the Browns, then I won't be upset with that -- let's just put it that way. He is family. At Baylor, we believe in that no matter what happens. We always have your back."

Since their time as teammates at Baylor, both Griffin and Gordon have shown flashes of greatness on the NFL level. Griffin won Rookie of the Year in 2012 before injuries, inconsistent play and locker room issues derailed his time with Washington.

Gordon, on the other hand, is easily one of the league's most talented receivers, but has struggled to stay on the field.  Including his current suspension, Gordon has only played 35 of a potential 65 games during his first four seasons in the NFL.

If Griffin and Gordon can stay healthy and sober, respectively, they could develop into quiet the NFL tandem. However, given their history, that's a pretty big if.
