RG3's dad to serve 10 days in jail for speeding 115 mph
HAMPTON, Va. -- The father of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has been ordered to serve 10 days in a Hampton jail after being convicted of reckless driving.
Hampton General District Court records show that Robert Lee Griffin Jr. was cited Aug. 2 for driving 115 mph on Interstate 64. The speed limit on that portion of the highway is 60.
Griffin pleaded not guilty Wednesday but was found guilty by a judge who sentenced him to 60 days in jail, with 50 days suspended. Griffin is slated to serve the 10 days of his active jail sentence on consecutive weekends, starting Oct. 2.
Griffin's attorney, Benjamin Kavanagh, confirmed that his client is the quarterback's father but declined further comment.
The case was first reported by the Daily Press of Newport News.
