Ryan Fitzpatrick considering thumb surgery for Friday
By Larry Brown.
Ryan Fitzpatrick played in Sunday’s 28-23 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and posted strong statistics despite his thumb injury.
The New York Jets quarterback suffered torn ligaments in his thumb in a loss to the Oakland Raiders the previous week. He suited up in Week 9 and went 21-of-34 for 272 yards and two touchdowns. Even though he played well with the injury, he still needs to have surgery.
Fitzpatrick apparently told CBS in a pregame meeting that he would have surgery before the season ends.
So CBS reported that Fitzpatrick said in the production meeting he would have surgery before the season was over on his thumb. #nyj

According to the New York Post’s Brian Costello, a CBS reporter speculated that Fitzpatrick could have surgery on Friday after next week’s game against the Bills. The Jets quarterback apparently acknowledged that having the surgery this Friday is a possibility.
“I don’t know. It’s still kind of up in the air. Yes. I have to get surgery at some point,” Fitzpatrick said after Sunday’s game via Costello.
It sounds like Fitzpatrick is likely to have the surgery at some point before the season ends and that it could come sooner rather than later. The good news is he was able to lead the team to victory in the meantime.
