Ryan reportedly has cleaned out his desk as Black Monday looms
It appears as though the Rex Ryan Era is all but over in New York.
The Jets head coach has cleaned out his desk in anticipation of being fired after New York's season finale against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, The Star-Ledger reported Saturday morning.
The Jets are prepared to hire former Redskins and Texans general manager Charley Casserly as a consultant, and he's already begun contacting replacements for Ryan and GM John Idzik, according to the report.
Ryan has spent the past six seasons with the Jets and guided them to back-to-back AFC title game appearances during his first two years as head coach. But the team has failed to recapture that level of success the past four years, as the Jets have failed to finish above .500 in each of those seasons.
The Jets have nosedived this season, sitting at 3-12, one of four teams in the AFC with three or fewer wins. Ryan has a 45-50 regular-season record during his tenure with the Jets.
