Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has good news about Earl Thomas' recovery

When it first happened, Seattle Seahawks All-Pro safety Earl Thomas was hinting at retirement. But nearly three months after he suffered a broken leg in Seattle’s Week 13 win, it appears Thomas’ mindset and physical condition have improved dramatically.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that Thomas is “doing very well” and indicated that he could be ready for Week 1.

“I think so,” Carroll said, via ESPN. “All indications are that he will make it back. He’s doing very well. … He’s feeling very competitive about it, and he’s going for it, and his mentality is strong. He’s looking forward to getting right.”

The 27-year-old of has been named to the Pro Bowl five times since he was drafted 14th overall by the Seahawks in 2010. His hard-hitting style has made him one of the key members of the Seahawks’ famed Legion of Boom secondary.
