Sensabaugh seizes opportunity with Titans

Tennessee Titans cornerback Coty Sensabaugh is taking advantage of the absence of fellow corners Jason McCourty and Blidi Wreh-Wilson to not only cement his place on the 53-man roster, but also make his case for increased playing time this season.

With McCourty and Wreh-Wilson both out with injuries, Sensabaugh has impressed the Titans coaching staff with his play in training camp.

“I have to give it to Coty -- he’s had a good camp. He’s really played well,’’ head coach Ken Whisenhunt said, per the team's official website. “He has been good. He has been very good. I’ve been impressed with Coty, and it’s a credit to him that he has competed the way he has.”

The fourth-year corner had a strong showing in Tennessee's preseason opener against the Atlanta Falcons, picking off a T.J. Yates pass for the first interception of his career, exhibition or otherwise.

"Any time you get your hands on the ball and give it back to the offense, it’s a good thing,’’ Sensabaugh said. “(I feel like) I’ve had a pretty good camp. I just have to continue working hard and not worry about the things I can’t control. I’m just focusing on what I can control, and that is getting better every day, and sticking with it.”

A fourth-round pick in 2012, Sensabaugh played in 13 games last season, starting six. He's still waiting on his first regular-season interception, but believes he'll have the chance to get it this year.

“When you get the opportunities, you have to take advantage of them,’’ Sensabaugh said. “Some of them you just have to make spectacular plays. The guys that are up there (in interceptions) year in and year out, some of them are routine and some are spectacular plays. You just have to put yourself in the right position.

“I think I’ll be in position more. I just have to make those plays.”
