Sheldon Richardson throws massive shade at teammate Brandon Marshall

The New York Jets were obliterated by the New England Patriots on Saturday. Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson threw some shade at Brandon Marshall.

The New York Jets are an absolute grease fire in 2016. They were totally smoked by the arch rival New England Patriots to the tune of 41-3 on Christmas Eve in Foxborough, falling to 4-11 on the year.

This team seems to have quit on head coach Todd Bowles. Now teammates are pointing fingers at each other. Star defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson completely burned his teammate Brandon Marshall to the New York Daily News.

Marshall called the loss “embarrassing.” Richardson responded with, “He should be embarrassed. There’s no reason. He just should be.” Richardson didn’t really elaborate saying, “He knows what he did. It’s cool bro…scratch that comment.” He would later add, “I don’t care what that guy says. No animosity whatsoever.”

Richardson’s comments are both confusing yet perfectly clear. He’s not great with the New York media, but doesn’t seem to buy into Marshall’s leadership style whatsoever. However, he may actually like him as a person.

Marshall has worn teammates and organizations out before. That was before the future Pro Football Hall of Fame was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Marshall has cleaned up his act in his two most recent stops with the Chicago Bears and now the Jets.

One thing to point out that is strange and might be the crux of Richardson’s argument: Marshall has never made the playoffs in a borderline Hall of Fame career. Richardson may respect his play on the field, but just does not buy what he is saying in the New York locker room.

At Missouri, Richardson was a tremendously talented player, but did have his issues with the SEC media in his final season in Columbia. He may be often misquoted, but his message about questioning Marshall’s leadership style is loud and clear. New York is a mess.
