Source says Marques Colston will remain with Saints next season

Published Mar. 6, 2015 12:56 p.m. ET

A person familiar with the situation says New Orleans Saints all-time leading receiver Marques Colston has agreed to contract changes and will remain with the club next season.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Friday because the Saints have not publicly discussed Colston's contract.

The person says the changes, first reported by FOX Sports, will lower how much Colston's salary counts against the 2015 salary cap.

Without restructuring, Colston would have cost New Orleans $9.7 million against the cap. No other contract details have been released.

Colston has 9,239 yards receiving and 68 touchdowns in nine seasons, but saw a dip in production in 2014, when he had 902 yards and five TDs, his first season with under 1,000 yards while playing in 16 games.
