Sports World Reacts To Prescott Injury

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was carted off the field after suffering a gruesome lower-leg injury during the Cowboys' 37-34 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

The injury occurred midway through the third quarter, as Prescott attempted to evade the Giants defense while scrambling. His right leg was trapped under a defender's body, and Prescott was later diagnosed with a compound fracture and dislocated ankle. 

Prescott was in tears as he left the field on the cart, but he did raise a fist as he was driven to the locker room.

The Cowboys QB was taken to a local hospital, where his brother shared a photo of the two shortly after the game.

According to reports, Prescott underwent successful surgery on Sunday night.

Prescott's former coach, Jason Garrett, who is now a member of the Giants coaching staff, immediately made his way onto the field to check on the Cowboys QB.

Dr. Matt Provencher, FOX Sports' injury analyst and former head team physician for the New England Patriots, weighed in on the long-term prospects for Prescott:

"Although Dak’s injury is significant, it is by no means a career-ender, and we will see him back as the usual Dak.  Most likely he is out for the rest of this season with this injury ... but, there is the outside chance that he could be back for a playoff run if the Cowboys go deep enough."

The sports world, from fellow professional athletes, NFL players, fans, and analysts, immediately wished Prescott the best and a speedy recovery.

And on a subsequent Cowboys possession, Ezekiel Elliott showed his support for Prescott when he scored a touchdown.

In the end, Dallas won the game on a last-second field goal, as Cowboys players dedicated the victory to their quarterback.
