Steelers deemed as second-worst cheaters in NFL

Published May. 18, 2015 2:57 p.m. ET

Just when you thought you were sick of all the 'gate' scandals in the NFL, a new site has graded the cheating history of all 32 franchises, and that history doesn't bode well for the Steelers.

Yourteamcheats.com ranks the Steelers as the second-worst offenders of league protocol, just behind the Denver Broncos. The site takes everything into account from PEDs and dirty hits to the larger scandals like Deflategate and Spygate. The Patriots rank 16th on the cheating scale by the way.

Mike Tomlin's near sideline obstruction during a touchdown return by Baltimore's Jacoby Jones was assessed the harshest grade of all the Steelers' transgressions.

Since 2010, the Steelers have the most players fined or suspended for blatantly dangerous and illegal hits on opponents, three alone delivered by James Harrison. That doesn't include Antonio Brown's Daniel-san impersonation when he karate kicked Browns punter Spencer Lanning last season.

Also cited was Terry Bradshaw's admission that members of the team used steroids during the 1970s, leading to the claim that Pittsburgh's four Super Bowl titles are somewhat tainted.
