Steve Smith Sr. Scores on Nasty Joe Flacco Dime (Video)

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:15 p.m. ET

Joe Flacco threw a dime to Steve Smith Sr. to get into the end zone before the end of the first half.

The Baltimore Ravens needed to win the rest of their games to ensure they make the playoffs entering Week 15. The first step was against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Philadelphia came into the game on a four-game losing streak, so the Ravens had a big opportunity pick up a win.

They needed their quarterback, Joe Flacco to play well if they were going to win though. Flacco started well, throwing a touchdown on their first drive of the game. However, he cooled off after the hot start.

Baltimore’s offense wasn’t doing much, but Flacco started warming back up and changed that before halftime.

With 16 seconds left in the second quarter, Flacco threw a dime to his wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. and Smith hauled it in for an impressive touchdown. Philadelphia’s cornerback Jalen Mills was playing aggressive in the game and celebrating any chance he had after an incompletion. But it was Smith who had the best celebration of the first half as he moved past Marvin Harrison to put himself seventh on the all-time receiving yardage list.

His career has been a great one to follow and plays like that just highlight what he has been able to bring to the game. Mills learned the hard way that you can’t just let the future Hall of Fame receiver run like that because he hasn’t put together a career like this from luck.

This was one of the easiest touchdowns of Smith’s career, though, as Flacco couldn’t have thrown it any better. He understood that Smith had a free release and held the safety long enough, putting the ball close to the sideline for the easy score.
