Super Bowl moment No. 32: Clay Matthews strikes for Packers defense

FOX Sports senior NFL writer Alex Marvez has ranked the 50 greatest moments in the big game's big history, and every weekday from now until Feb. 7 we'll unveil the latest addition to our countdown. Today, we look back at moment No. 32, when Clay Matthews made a play to help the Packers in Super Bowl XLV.

With quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre, it's understandable why Green Bay's offense always receives more praise than the defense.

However, it was the latter unit that helped the Packers preserve a victory in Super Bowl 45.

Pittsburgh was driving for the go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter when running back Rashard Mendenhall was crunched between linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive lineman Ryan Pickett.

The fumble that followed was snared by Packers linebacker Desmond Bishop to end the scoring threat. Green Bay then marched the remaining 55 yards for the touchdown that helped the Packers bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Titletown for the first time in 14 seasons.

Final score: Green Bay 31, Pittsburgh 25
