T.J. Yates ready to rely on DeAndre Hopkins once again
With T.J. Yates set to start at quarterback for the Houston Texans in place of Brian Hoyer in Sunday's pivotal AFC South matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, the veteran backup knows he has a pretty impressive track record of success with star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to lean on in a game with huge playoff implications.
Yates and Hopkins have combined for three touchdowns this season to lead the Texans to a pair of victories over the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets last month when Hoyer was out with a concussion. Now, with Hoyer sidelined by another concussion, Yates said he has confidence knowing he can rely on Hopkins to make a play when needed.

The duo connected on a 22-yard touchdown in Houston's win over the Bengals Nov. 16, with Hopkins contributing a two-touchdown, 118-yard performance with Yates at quarterback a week later in the win against the Jets.
“Absolutely, 100 percent trust in that guy," Yates said. "You throw it up in the vicinity with that guy and he will go and get it for you, so that is something that we have to go and do. We have to get him the ball.”
With sole possession of first in the AFC South and a likely playoff spot on the line, Yates and Hopkins will need to keep the chemistry going on Sunday.
