The Houston Texans have released tackle Ephraim Salaam and waived linebacker David Nixon.
The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Salaam signed with the Texans on Sept. 22, the day left tackle Duane Brown was suspended for violating the NFL's drug policy. Brown's suspension ended on Sunday.
Salaam was in his second stint with Houston. He also played for the Texans from 2006-09.
The 6-3, 225-pound Nixon played in the second half of Sunday's game against Kansas City after All-Pro middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans ruptured his left Achilles' tendon. Nixon, in his second season, made seven tackles in Sunday's 35-31 win over Kansas City.
