Texans lose backup QB T.J. Yates late in 1st half
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Houston quarterback T.J. Yates left the field and walked straight to the locker room late in the first half Sunday after apparently injuring his left knee at Indianapolis.
Brandon Weeden took over and finished the possession by leading the Texans to a field goal to cut Indy's lead to 10-7.
The injury occurred with 1:14 left in the second quarter after Yates scrambled for a first down. But the play was wiped out by an offensive holding penalty and cost Houston its final timeout of the half.
The Texans were already without starting quarterback Brian Hoyer, who is out because of a concussion.
Yates was 6 of 10 for 68 yards with one interception. Houston's emergency quarterback would be punter Shane Lechler.
