Texans TE Ryan Griffin to miss 'significant time' with sprained MCL
Houston Texans tight end Ryan Griffin is likely to be out a number of weeks after spraining his medial collateral ligament in Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Griffin is expected to miss the next few games, if not longer.
“Ryan Griffin probably has the most significant injury,” Texans coach Bill O’Brien said, per the Chronicle. “He’ll probably be out for some significant time."
With Griffin out, the Texans are left with two tight ends on the roster in Garrett Graham and C.J. Fiedorowicz. O'Brien said Monday that team hasn't decided yet wether to add a third tight end.
“We’re talking about that right now, but we haven’t come to a decision on that yet,” O’Brien said.
One option would be Eric Tomlinson, who is currently on Houston's practice squad.
Griffin played 36 snaps against the Chiefs. Fiedorowicz, who started, caught one pass for 15 yards.
