Thanks to these 2 guys, Class of 2011 just made NFL history
Super Bowl 50 isn't just a matchup between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. It's actually a victory lap for the 2011 NFL Draft.
After the Panthers locked up their victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday night in the NFC Championship Game, Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel pointed out an interesting fact.
Carolina took Cam Newton with the No. 1 pick back in 2011. The Broncos were up next and they took linebacker Von Miller. In case you missed it, Miller had a monster game against the New England Patriots on Sunday in the AFC title game.
So, that means the top two picks from that year will face off in the Super Bowl. That's never happened. Looks like history has been made.
By the way, it's not just Newton and Miller who are carrying that draft class. Check out the other big names who were taken ... just in the first round:
1. Newton
2. Miller
3. Marcell Dareus
4. A.J. Green
5. Patrick Peterson
6. Julio Jones
9. Tyron Smith
11. J.J. Watt
14. Robert Quinn
15. Mike Pouncey
17. Nate Solder
19. Prince Amukamara
21. Phil Taylor
22. Anthony Castonzo
30. Muhammad Wilkerson
When you add second-round picks like Andy Dalton and Kyle Rudolph and a fifth-round pick Richard Sherman, you've got the makings of an all-time class.
