The Dallas Cowboys should start Dak Prescott all season

Dak Prescott should start every game for the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The Dallas Cowboys are heading into another season with Tony Romo out of the lineup for several weeks. This year is a different because they have an exciting replacement in rookie Dak Prescott.

Like it or not, the Cowboys playoff hopes rely on the Prescott’s development. There’s a strong possibility that the success he had during the preseason will carry over to the regular season.

This is a team that has enough offensive weapons to ease the young quarterback’s transition. The offensive line is the best in the league, Dez Bryant is a playmaker capable of hauling in poorly thrown balls and Ezekiel Elliott has the makings of an elite running back.

Romo could miss as many as 10 weeks of the season at which point the Cowboys fate for this year will already be determined. If the team is in the playoff picture it will be because Prescott rose to the occasion.

It wouldn’t make sense for a team in the playoff hunt to bench a promising rookie for a rusty and injury-prone veteran.

The other side of the coin also leans to the Cowboys keeping Romo on the bench all year. If the Cowboys are obviously out of the playoff mix they would be best served to let Prescott finish the season as the starter.

In this scenario, Romo would only risk further injury for a lost cause. Dallas as a franchise would get more out of allowing the younger player to see more action. This gives him the chance to develop while also allowing the Cowboys to get a better feel about his long-term potential.

The injury to Romo could turn out being a positive for the franchise. It could provide the team with the opportunity to move on from Romo and start a new era for the Cowboys. Romo was good for this team for many years, but the injury issues make it tough to rely on him.
