Three men placed on Eagles IR, three men are added
The Eagles reshuffle their roster again.
Anyone saving the program of any Philadelphia Eagles home game might find it interesting to compare the most recent roster to the one listed in any of the earlier editions. Week 14 concluded with the Eagles sending three of their members to the team’s injured reserve list. “The magic man” long snapper Jon Dorenbos, offensive tackle Matt Tobin and running back Wendell Smallwood won’t be seen on the field for this team until OTAs start in 2017.

That left the Eagles with three spots to fill on the 53-man roster. They did so by adding three guys to fill three positions of immediate need. Dorenbos will be replaced at the long snapper position by Rick Lovato. At cornerback, the Eagles add Dwayne Gratz, and after finishing their game against the Washington Redskins with one running back, Ryan Mathews, the Eagles elevated Byron Marshall from the practice squad to the active roster.
Marshall may be the most exciting of these decisions. On Tuesday, with the players off, offensive coordinator Frank Reich and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz spoke with the Philadelphia media. When asked about Marshall, Reich was nothing but complimentary. He said he wasn’t sure how much action Marshall would see, but he also stated if you took any ten “wow plays” from the practices he’s seen this season, three or four of those plays would belong to the rookie running back.

Three games remain in the 2016 season. Time to see where the pieces are to build upon. Time to see if this team needs a complete overhaul in the off-season.
