Three players who filled up the box score in Week 14
Week 14 in the NFL had plenty of heart-stopping moments, and now it's time to salute the statistical standouts who made them happen. Featured this week are a surging quarterback, an unexpected running back and a defensive end who can't be stopped.
Russell Wilson, quarterback, Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are red hot, thanks to Wilson's stellar play as of late. In Week 14, Wilson piled it on the Baltimore Ravens with five touchdown passes in a 35-6 victory. He completed 23 of 32 pass attempts (71.9 percent) for 292 yards, which factored out to be a pretty sweet passer rating of 139.6. Seattle is making an impressive late-season playoff push with four consecutive wins. During this streak, Wilson has thrown 16 touchdown passes and zero interceptions.
Isaiah Crowell, running back, Cleveland Browns
The Browns picked up a 24-10 win against the 49ers, highlighted by Crowell’s impressive performance on the ground. He churned out 20 carries for 145 yards, including a long run of 54 yards. The second-year running back also capped off two scoring drives by punching in touchdowns from 1 and 3 yards. out. Before Sunday, Crowell had not recorded a 100-yard game all year. His only other touchdown of the season came in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.
Khalil Mack, defensive end, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders shut down the Broncos 15-13 in a defensive battle, and Mack was the game’s biggest difference-maker. He had five sacks, one of which forced a fumble and resulted in a safety. The Raiders haven’t won many games lately, but Mack is playing some of his best football down the stretch. He has nine sacks in the past three weeks for a total of 14 sacks on the season. Last year’s fifth overall draft pick appears to be coming into his own.
