Tim Tebow is last on Eagles' four-man QB depth chart
Preseason depth charts make for a lot of fun speculation, and on Friday the Philadelphia Eagles revealed in their media guide that quarterback Tim Tebow is fourth in a four-man depth chart.
Could it be that Tebow really hasn’t shown much and is really behind Matt Barkley? Or could it be a bit of a ploy to spark the latter’s trade value?
At this point, it’s hard to be surprised that Tebow is this low on any NFL depth chart. The last time he saw a snap in game action was in 2013 in a preseason game while with the New England Patriots. He failed to impress and was cut. Before that, the former Heisman winner was with the Jets where he saw actual NFL minutes in 2012. He completed six passes on eight attempts for 75 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Tebow signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in April after working as a broadcaster for the SEC channel.
Philly takes on the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday and there’s a good chance Tebow could see some action in the back end of the game, especially with expected starter Sam Bradford not expected to play.
On Sept. 1, the Eagles must cut their roster down to 75 players, and then down to the regular 53-man size on Sept. 4.
