Titans pick receiver Tajae Sharp to start final day of draft
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The Tennessee Titans have selected their first wide receiver, taking Tajae Sharpe of Massachusetts with their first pick of the final day of the draft.
The Titans waited about two hours Saturday before kicking off the fifth round by taking Sharpe with the 140th pick overall.
The 6-foot-3, 188-pound Sharpe led the nation with 9.3 catches per game last season and averaged 109.9 yards receiving per game. He gives quarterback Marcus Mariota another option in the passing game.
The Titans have three selections remaining, including two sixth-round selections thanks to their trade with Cleveland where they moved up for the eighth pick overall for offensive tackle Jack Conklin. Their final pick will be No. 222 overall to start the seventh round.
Tennessee also drafted a Heisman Trophy winner in Alabama running back Derrick Henry on Friday night along with linebacker Kevin Dodd of Clemson, defensive tackle Austin Johnson of Penn State and Middle Tennessee safety Kevin Byard.
