Titans RB DeMarco Murray made the Packers' defense look silly twice
Aaron Rodgers admonished his team for not showing more energy early in last week’s loss to the Colts, but Green Bay got off to an even worse start Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
Tennessee gifted the Packers great field position when it tried a failed onside kick to start the game, but the Packers went three-and out when Rodgers threw well behind a wide-open Randall Cobb on third down.
The Titans then started on their own 20-yard line after a touchback and advanced to the 25 on a penalty before running back DeMarco Murray ripped off a 75-yard run on Tennessee’s first game from scrimmage.
Rodgers didn’t do anything to help the Packers’ energy by missing a key pass on Green Bay’s first drive, but that was nothing compared to the defense not getting anywhere near Murray on his long touchdown run. To make matters worse for the Packers, Murray threw a halfback option pass for a 10-yard TD to tight end Delanie Walker on the Titans’ next drive. By the end of the first quarter, Green Bay trailed 21-0.
